Plus…PRSA Nashville’s more than 140 members
receive additional benefits, including:

Accreditation - Accreditation is PRSA's voluntary certification program. Successful completion of the accreditation process results in the awarding of the designation Accredited in Public Relations (APR) to qualified public relations professionals. The designation signifies a high professional level of experience and competence.

PRSA members with at least five years of experience in the paid professional practice of public relations or in the teaching or administration of public relations courses in an accredited college or university are eligible to take the exam.

Contact Bonnie Riechert, Ph.D., APR, Fellow PRSA at (615) 460-6279 for more information.

Luncheon speakers and professional development seminars - The Nashville Chapter hosts monthly luncheon programs designed to further the professional practice of public relations by its members. Recent programs have addressed technology, employee communications and government relations.

In addition, the chapter sponsors in-depth, full- and half-day seminars on a regular basis. Past programs have focused on topics from media relations to music industry public relations.

For a full listing of upcoming events, please see the calendar.

Networking - PRSA Nashville gives you access to more than 140 of Nashville's leading public relations practitioners. Its members represent business and industry, counseling and professional services firms, government, associations, hospitals, schools and non-profit organizations. Opportunities for networking and mentoring exist through monthly meetings, special events, a young professionals organization and support of two PRSSA (student) chapters.

Parthenon Awards - The area's best public relations programs, publications, events and other works are showcased each April at The Parthenon Awards. Established in 1987, the annual event rewards professional excellence and encourages improved performance in public relations.

Hercules Award - The Hercules Award is presented annually to a person who has made an outstanding contribution to the Nashville chapter during the year. Named for the renowned mythological hero famous for courage and strength, the award honors a person who uses strength and talent for the good of the public relations profession.

Mercury Award - The Mercury Award is given to a young professional with less than 10 years of experience in the public relations profession who has demonstrated accelerated progress in his or her career. This individual must also demonstrate leadership potential through service to PRSA, chapter involvement and professionalism. The Mercury Award is presented at the Annual Parthenon Awards.

Apollo Award for Communications Leadership - The Apollo Award for Communications Leadership is awarded annually to a senior Middle Tennessee executive who demonstrates and exemplifies the public relations and communications function within his/her organization.
