More than 200 public relations professionals belong to PRSA Nashville, representing a wide variety of roles in various industries. As an organization rooted in advocacy, professional excellence, educational opportunities and leadership, we celebrate the diverse and meaningful makeup of our chapter.
For March’s Member Spotlight, we are excited to learn a little bit more about Rhonda Roberts.
How long have you been a PRSA member?
I’ve been a member of PRSA for the past two years after making the transition into corporate communications. While I’m new to the organization, I bring more than 20 years of experience in Nashville’s communications and media industry so it’s great to see many old friends and colleagues.
What do you value about your PRSA membership?
I genuinely love getting to know our fellow public relations pros! Our chapter is full of members from all kinds of professional backgrounds, and that mix makes things so much more interesting. Everyone brings a fresh perspective to PR, and it’s exciting to see how those different ideas and experiences come together to make us all better at what we do.
What is your current role and what does your day-to-day look like?
I serve as the Communications Director for K-LOVE, the nation’s largest Contemporary Christian Music( CCM) radio network, with more than 1,100 signals nationwide and a growing global presence. I lead a team responsible for shaping both internal and external communications across the non-profit organization. No two days are the same. One day I may be developing executive messaging for team members or coordinating digital signage and intranet content. The next I’m writing press releases and leading media outreach for key initiatives spanning business operations, radio, video streaming, podcasts, and publishing.
March is Women’s History Month — what does this observance month mean to you as a woman in communications?
It means a great deal to me. I strongly believe women can achieve anything! We bring the confidence, capability, and determination to make things happen. While challenges still exist in any profession, I’m continually inspired by the strength of women in communications and PR—especially here in Music City! Every day, I see talented, driven women making a meaningful impact in our community, across the country, and around the world.
What is a project (professionally or personally) that you’ve worked on recently that has been exciting and engaging?Â
I’m currently volunteering with my hometown school to help coordinate its Centennial Celebration. Richard Hardy Memorial School is one of only two special school districts in the state of Tennessee, and as a proud K–12 alum, it’s incredibly meaningful to give back and help ensure the school receives the recognition it deserves. I’m leading media relations both leading up to and during the event and already have a couple of placements in the works for Chattanooga media. And—thanks to my Nashville ties—I’ve also been tapped to oversee the live music lineup. Let’s just say a few special friends are making an appearance, adding an extra note of excitement to an already memorable celebration.
And finally: what is your favorite way to spend a beautiful, sunny day in Nashville?
Music will always be at the heart of Nashville—and tops in my heart! Anyone who knows me knows I can’t resist a good rooftop or patio with live music playing. I love getting out whenever I can to support my talented musician friends and soak in the energy that makes this city so special.
