For June’s Member Spotlight, we are excited to learn a little bit more about Kenyel Jetton.

How long have you been a PRSA member?

I’ve been a PRSA member for almost two years. After serving as PRSSA President during my time at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, I was excited to continue my involvement by joining the Nashville PRSA chapter and further investing in my professional development.

What do you value about your PRSA membership?

I value the opportunity to connect with communications professionals who are making a difference in Nashville and within their organizations. Each member brings a unique background, perspective, and passion, which creates opportunities for genuine relationships and shared growth.

I am also grateful for PRSA’s newly launched mentorship program. As I navigate my career, it is encouraging to have a mentor who is willing to offer guidance and serve as a trusted resource.

What is your current professional role and what does your day-to-day look like?

Currently, I serve as the Marketing and Communications Coordinator for the Middle Tennessee Council of Scouting America, a nonprofit organization serving youth across 37 counties in Middle Tennessee.

My responsibilities vary from day to day, but they primarily include managing social media channels, creating engaging content, highlighting positive Scout stories, serving as the lead photographer and videographer, and supporting media relations efforts.

Every day brings something new, which is one of the things I enjoy most about my role.

You serve on the PRSA Programs Committee. How has being involved with a PRSA committee been meaningful to you?

Being a part of the PRSA Programs Committee has introduced me to the intentional, behind-the-scenes work that goes into creating successful events. Through the committee, I have gained confidence in sharing my ideas, collaborating with others, and contributing to every stage of event development—from securing guest speakers and drafting interview questions to selecting catering and designing event graphics.

My fellow committee members have been supportive and have created an environment where everyone feels comfortable contributing. Overall, serving on the PRSA Programs Committee has been fulfilling, and I look forward to continuing to help create programs that connect members, welcome new ones, and strengthen our chapter.

Do you have a specific interest area in public relations/communications that you feel professionally passionate about?

I am most passionate about digital storytelling, particularly through photography. I truly believe that photos have the power to communicate experiences and emotions in ways that words alone sometimes cannot.

Visual content helps showcase campaigns, elevate pitches, and highlight an organization’s mission while creating deeper connections with the community.

And finally, just for fun: what does your perfect vacation look like?

My perfect vacation is a solo trip with several days at the beach, temperatures in the 70s or 80s, time at the spa, great food, and plenty of time to recharge.
